What was changed. Records of the same trial were merged across registries, using shared IDs and a check of look-alike titles. Each record was classified by AI models (Claude Opus and Sonnet, with a tie-break where they disagreed) as gene-modified, unmodified cell therapy or out of scope, with modality, disease area, phase and sponsor type. Studies outside cell and gene therapy were removed. Region comes from trial site countries, or the sponsor's country when no sites are listed. EU means the 27 member states; the UK is shown on its own. "Inferred" means the product type was worked out from a code name.
Accuracy. A blind re-check of 250 trials found none with the wrong product type (95% upper bound 1.5%); sponsor type was wrong in about 4%. A second pass over removed studies recovered 16 that belonged in the database, and a few may still be missing. 2025 counts will rise as late registrations arrive. Check the registry record before relying on any single trial.
